Ahh the sweet smell of scones, the charm of old castles, the elegance of the English accent. The United Kingdom makes many young French people dream. When we talk about England we can’t help thinking of the rich past of the country and its legends like that of King Arthur but also more modern fiction like the Harry Potter novels or the Misfits series. In short, whether you are looking to the past as the present, England will know how to entertain you!
Choosing to go to study in England is to embark on a unique adventure. Leaving your daily life, getting away from your family and friends is not an easy thing. And the task seems even more complicated when a large number of steps await us!
How to go to study in England?
First of all, know that there are several ways to study in England. You can go there yourself by registering directly with English universities with the UCAS portal before the UCAS deadline or with the Erasmus program. As part of the latter, you will enrol in a French university that will send you to England thanks to their partnerships. For a short stay, there is always the option of a linguistic stay, more expensive but easier to integrate.
What is the Erasmus program? Who is he talking to?
The Erasmus program has been set up by the European Commission to encourage mobility among young people. Agreements have been made between several countries of the European Union to allow students from these different countries to carry out part of their studies at a partner university.
To be able to leave with Erasmus, you must, therefore, have the nationality of one of the countries participating in Erasmus. England is still part of the program, it is possible to go there.
Leaving with/without Erasmus, what differences?
When you decide to leave with Erasmus, you must already be enrolled in a French university because you are going to leave as part of a partnership. You will then be presented with the list of partner universities and you will be able to choose one of them. Please note, some places are more in demand than others and a selection may be made (via a language test for example).
In general, a student leaves for Erasmus for a semester or a school year (depending on their wishes and the partnership agreed between the two structures). He carries out all the procedures with the international relations office of his university.
How to go on an Erasmus in England?
To go on an Erasmus in England you will, therefore, have to enrol in a French university. Check that this university has partnerships with the United Kingdom, you can also find out if the number of places to leave is sufficient in relation to demand.
Once you study at the university, the team in charge of international exchanges will suggest that you create a file to leave and will accompany you in these steps.
You will have to attach documents such as a cover letter, the results of a language test and your transcripts to your file. But do not worry because your university is there to answer your questions in all these steps because each has its own organization, or you can consult overseas education consultants.
