First time traveling? No one can forget it, it is one of those memories that remain etched in the mind forever. The sense of freedom, the pleasure of discovery, and the new friendships: it is an experience of the best ever that really changes the life and the meaning of the existence of each one, opening up new horizons and directions. But how do you put the first study trip abroad to the best possible?
LEARN FOR YOURSELF
First of all, when you go study abroad, try to follow the courses with attention and curiosity. It’s not a duty, but something you do for yourself and it will help you improve. It is a path that will make you grow a lot inside and, teaching you a new language, it will give you all the tools to be “citizen of the world”.
TO ADAPT
If you go abroad it’s to learn new things: the best way to do it? Try to act like a local. Immerse yourself in the culture of the country where you are going, do not refuse experiences, face the study journey with the greatest possible openness. Always use an approach of interest and respect towards the “new” and the “different”. Only then can you really take the new culture as much as possible. And try to do as many different experiences as possible.
TRY DIFFERENT FLAVORS
The food is an extremely identifying and important cultural aspect of every country. And we Italians know well how the kitchen can represent a distinctive brand. So don’t limit your experience by eating only dishes you know: try, experiment, and try!
FRIENDS
It may seem obvious but it is not. Try to meet as many people as possible. Stop talking to them, don’t always be with just one group of people. Make more ties and possible contacts, even better if they are foreigners and you can also practice the language. So when you come home you will have a bag full of memories and a heart full of affections.
CALL TO SHYNESS
Even if you are a shy (and we understand your difficulties well!) Try not to miss good opportunities. After all, it’s a vacation and it’s an opportunity that doesn’t always happen. In the indecision between throwing yourself and not throw yourself, always choose the first one!
BYE BYE NOSTALGIA
Sometimes it happens to have homesickness: it is enough to know that there is nothing more normal and we should not live it as a drama. Then make a phone call, talk to your friends and parents. Then return to your study holiday and focus on the present!
LEAVE YOUR SMARTPHONE!
Avoid being glued to your smartphone for hours to chat with your friends: you’re traveling, you’re abroad, you’re having a fantastic experience! Power! Focus on what you are experiencing!
