Studying abroad is a great opportunity, but often false beliefs lead to think that it is more difficult than it really is, or that there are dangers in reality that do not exist. But what is the truth about studying abroad? Whatever the experience you want to choose: a study holiday, a longer stay, an alternation between school and work, it is important that you know how to distinguish between false myths and reality.

IT IS A WASTE OF TIME

Studying abroad is certainly a fun experience, but that doesn’t mean it’s a waste of time. Rather. One of the goals of studying abroad is to get you skills that will be useful for the future. The wealth of knowledge will grow, and you will be able to assert your new acquired skills.

STUDYING ABROAD IS LIKE GOING ON VACATION

Study abroad is like a vacation, but not only. Studying is necessary, and you will have to do it, but the experience will be so exciting that even studying will be fun.

I DON’T KNOW LANGUAGES SO I CAN’T STUDY ABROAD

False. There are lots of study programs abroad that do not require preliminary foreign language preparation and provide an intensive language course on site. In the case of study holidays for example, before leaving you will do a language test to be placed in a class of your own language level, so you will never be in trouble, and we will help you improve. We must not be afraid, because in a short time, thanks to full immersion in the new language, you will no longer have problems.

IT’S DANGEROUS

The study holiday, dedicated to children up to the age of 19, takes place in an absolutely protected environment and in a context in which the children are continuously supported and helped by our staff. Activities are organized, and colleges are safe places.  As for the other experiences like a study stay for adults, the usual rule applies: using common sense and behaving well helps not to run into unpleasant situations.

COSTS TOO MUCH

The cost of studying overseas varies depending on the country chosen, but in general, there are options for financing and deferring payments. In addition, if one of your parents is a public administration employee, you can take part in the INPS call for scholarships for summer study holidays.

I WILL NOT FIND FRIENDS

This is a very common fear, but actually making friends will be extremely easy. You will meet many students like you; you will be able to communicate with them, build friendships that will remain over time because you will have shared a unique experience. In no time you will be surrounded by so many people!

TRAVELING ALONE IS THE SAME AS GOING TO STUDY ABROAD

Studying abroad is a more particular experience and certainly more “concentrated” and finalized. There is not only travel and getting to know new places, but there is also attention to preparation, deepening of the language: it is certainly a more focused experience to increase one’s skills.
