Admission to a university abroad is a lot of trouble and requires strong nerves and confidence from the applicant and his parents.
As soon as the future student received the test results in English and specialized subjects, you can safely proceed to the next step – the preparation and sending of documents.
Each university publishes a list of everything necessary on its official website. In addition, you can contact the study abroad consultants who regularly monitor the information portals of foreign educational institutions and quickly provide up-to-date data on documents.
Often, the list of documents for admission abroad necessarily includes:
- A certificate of complete secondary education or a bachelor’s/master’s degree, depending on the chosen direction of study;
- An extract with all grades, the number of classes/courses completed and hours spent on training;
- Financial documents (for example, a certificate confirming the financial viability of the applicant or a bank statement on the presence of a certain amount in the account);
- Test results for the level of English, German or French, as well as for individual disciplines (usually required for admission to bachelor’s and master’s degrees);
- A short essay on a topic set by the admissions committee, or a portfolio (for creative specialties);
- Motivation and/or recommendation letter.
Each document must be carefully checked for errors and typos before being sent, translated into English and the foreign version of the document must be notarized. Then everything must be sent by e-mail to the official e-mail of the university.
After a few days, you can check with the selection committee whether their employees received these documents, whether everything is in order with them and when to expect the final verdict.
The deadlines for submission of documents for each university may differ
Unlike European universities, American and Canadian universities do not always set clear deadlines and try to accept as many applicants as possible.
As soon as the management of the university sees that there are more applications than the institution can train students, admission of documents is closed. Top US universities are usually limited to April, and verification of applicant’s documents takes two to four weeks.
The timing of submission of documents to British universities is influenced by the time of taking the IELTS Academic test to confirm the level of English proficiency.
The queue for passing the test can be scheduled for a month or two in advance. This is due to the fact that tasks are performed only in small groups- up to 20 people.
Therefore, it is important to decide in advance on the university and specialty in the UK in order to further calmly plan exams and prepare documents.
It’s time to show charisma with the help of study abroad education consultants.
A motivation letter is an essay of no more than 4,000 characters in which the candidate describes their academic interests, experience, goals, life position and achievements. The text clearly shows written skills in a foreign language.
Reading a short story about the applicant, the selection committee tries to imagine the personality of the applicant, his ability to think critically and logically, to express his thoughts coherently and competently.
In a motivation letter, you should boldly indicate your personal qualities, your strengths and weaknesses, clearly explain why you chose this or that specialty to study abroad, how you plan to develop in this area after graduation and why you are worthy to study at this university.
